Senior Safety Advisor

Health, Safety & Environment (Construction) Full time The Inland Rail Program is a 1600km rail infrastructure project stretching from Brisbane to Melbourne incorporating new and existing rail track.
The program includes the upgrading of existing standard gauge track, the enhancement of existing standard gauge track to cater for double stacking and the construction of new standard gauge links comprising of viaducts, tunnels, rail track, crossings and bridges.
More information relating to the project can be found here: Inland Rail About the opportunity As the Senior Safety Advisor for the Beverage to Albury (B2 A) tranche 2 project, your primary responsibility will be to undertake governance and assurance activities to ensure all safety standards and requirements are consistently upheld.
Working across 8 sites along the alignment, your role will require regular travel with the remainder of your time working from the Melbourne CBD office (50/50 split).
A vehicle, accommodation and expenses will naturally be provided during your site visits to ensure you can focus on embedding safety values and fostering a culture of accountability, ownership and awareness.
You will be joining a highly respected and well-established team that works collaboratively with the project management team, key stakeholders and contractors alike.
Additional Responsibilities include: Support the Head of Delivery and Project Teams to create a strong and healthy safety culture that ensures our people and contractors go home safely every day.
Ensure the effective implementation of Safety Management Systems.
Ensuring compliance to relevant Health and Safety legislation (including National Rail Safety Law and company health and safety requirements).
Provide advice, guidance and coaching to support the implementation of H&S requirements.
Conduct inspections, audits, risk assessment, hazard identification and risk management tasks.
Review contractors H&S plans, records and related documentation ensuring requirements are met and implemented accordingly.
About you To ensure success in this position, applicants will be able to demonstrate: Diploma or Degree in Work Health & Safety or another related field.
i CAM training and experience.
Demonstrated experience within a similar role.
High level of interpersonal skills including the ability to negotiate with and influence others.
Self-motivated with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Intermediate MS Office Suite Skills.
