Salary: $91,702 - $104,753 + up to 15.4% SuperannuationLocation: Garden Island - NSWThe RoleThe Business Manager / Finance Manager will work under limited direction and with reasonable autonomy, and will be accountable to perform and achieve complex financial and commercial work within an integrated workforce.
This multi-faceted role includes the following responsibilities:Research, interpret and provide commercial and financial advice, ensuring compliance with legislation and policy.Develop budgets and manage expenditure (credit card and invoice payments) and revenue (sales and donations).Manage procurement and contracts (tenders, approvals, payments, commitments, and reconciliations).Develop commercial policy and procedures (costing new program initiatives, modelling commercial fee structures).Contribute to strategy and business development (writing policies, decision briefs, board papers, and business documents).Administer and report on special accounts and trust monies, including development of financial statements.Supervise a small team and develop financial and administrative processes and procedures.Respond to customer enquiries and maintain customer service records.Participate in a paid out-of-hours duty roster.About our TeamThe Young Endeavour Youth Scheme (YEYS) is a Commonwealth program delivering world-class development opportunities for young Australians aboard Sail Training Ship Young Endeavour.
Our integrated APS / ADF team is responsible for program development, youth crew selection and administration, marketing communication and partnerships, commercial operations, and governance.
We also administer the YEYS Public Fund Trust.We work closely with Navy and Defence to deliver the Young Endeavour Program, support youth policy outcomes, maintain community partnerships, and build awareness of Navy in the community.The YEYS team is currently dual focused - delivering a program of youth development voyages around Australia, and preparing for program expansion following the introduction into service of a new, larger sail training ship.
A strong focus on revenue generation and program growth provides an exciting opportunity to contribute collaboratively towards business improvement initiatives.Team members are also able to participate in a familiarisation voyage in STS Young Endeavour.Our Ideal CandidateOur ideal candidate will have a good understanding of (or exposure in) financial, commercial, contracting, and procurement processes, policies, and best practices in the government, small business, and/or non-profit sectors.You will have supervisory experience, be able to manage a cyclic workload, and work with independence to meet deadlines.You will also have knowledge of relevant legislative frameworks, policies, and procedures, and the ability to interpret and apply this knowledge across a range of business activities.Other beneficial skills and attributes include:Proactive and collaborative team player.Demonstrated initiative and judgment.Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a dynamic team environment.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.Highly organised, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities.Sound skills in Microsoft Office applications, particularly MS Word and MS Excel.Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.High-level customer service skills.#J-18808-Ljbffr
