Operational Support Casual Pool - Facilities Support Assistant (FS4) Education Sydney Waterfront Campus Sydney, Nova Scotia Department of Facilities and Engineering Casual Positions: Various start dates in 2024 & 2025
Application deadline is 11:59pm, December 23, 2024 Hourly Rate: $20.88 per hour to $21.68 per hour
QualificationsQualifications and Occupational Experience: The minimum educational qualification for this position is a high school diploma or recognized equivalent (GED).
Those in the process of attaining their high school diploma or GED may also be considered.
Training in WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety regulations would be considered an asset, as would Standard First Aid and CPR.You have a minimum of one year's experience as a cleaner (including the operation of waxing and polishing machines and automatic scrubbers).
Custodial and/or maintenance experience in a post-secondary or commercial setting would be considered an asset.Occupational experience that includes working in one or more of the trades (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, etc.)
would be considered an asset.You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, e-mail and Megamation.You have demonstrated experience providing general, preventative and scheduled maintenance duties.Relevant Skills and Knowledge:You demonstrate a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility, and anti-racism.You possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and are able to interact effectively with a diversity of people.You are known for your superior customer service skills and are able to create a relationship of trust beyond the immediate interaction.Your superb team working skills enable you to contribute positively to a team environment.You have specific technical occupational knowledge and skill in operating auto scrubbers, swing machines and carpet extraction equipment, inventory control, performing audits and 5S + S Inspections.You are familiar with and committed to complying with OHS policies and procedures.You have a proven ability to follow oral and written instructions.You possess excellent time management and organizational skills.You demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence.You are dedicated to life-long learning.You show a strong commitment to community involvement.You are able to perform all physical duties of the job as required for the operation and maintenance of the facilities and operation of small hand tools and shop equipment.Possession of a valid Nova Scotia Driver's Licence would be considered an asset.ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Facilities Manager, you will perform a full range of routine and special cleaning duties associated with keeping the Campus in a safe and hygienic condition.
You may also perform routine painting duties, room rental setups and other related duties as required.
The hours of work may vary as required (e.g., shift work and on-call duties).
Additional InformationCandidates selected for interviews will be expected to provide at least three recent, occupational references.
