Position Information Callaghan College Jesmond Senior Campus caters to Year 11 and Year 12 students, and is part of the multi-campus Callaghan College located in Newcastle NSW, situated on the lands of the Awabakal people.
Callaghan College is comprised of three separate campuses, Wallsend Campus (Years 7-10), Waratah Campus (Years 7-10) and Jesmond Senior Campus (Years 11-12). Collectively, the college provides the most extensive curriculum in the Hunter, including a breadth of academic, vocational and extra-curricular opportunities. The Callaghan College is recognised nationally for its integration of technology to support future focused learning. The college is supported through leading a strong and vibrant partnership with the Callaghan Education Pathways (including 15 partner primary schools), deep connection with Callaghan Local AECG, a partnership with our Callaghan College P&C, an academic partnership with the University of Newcastle and industry partnerships with a range of innovative enterprises.
Jesmond Senior Campus has a current enrolment of 658 students, with 11% identifying as Aboriginal and 7% students from an EALD background, additionally the school has 7 support classes. The Jesmond Senior Campus enjoys the support of its diverse community and has fostered strong partnerships with cultural institutions, business and community groups. The commitment to continually improving effective classroom practices through staff professional learning is a key priority. Successful senior pathways are enhanced through improved data collection, analysis and use, while ensuring learning is individualised and differentiation is embedded into classroom practice.
Selection Criteria Demonstrated collaborative leadership to drive a shared vision and inspire a high expectations culture for all. Proven capacity to lead change in curriculum and pedagogical practices for the teaching and learning of senior students. Demonstrated capacity to lead evidence-informed wellbeing initiatives for all students to succeed in learning and post school pathways. Demonstrated capacity to build strong relational trust, focused on continuous improvement and staff growth. General Selection Criteria High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people. Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school's RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Principal Level P4 for 2024 and also for 2025.
