Heathcote Golf Club (HGC) is situated 140km north of Melbourne in the heart of the Heathcote Wine region and is regularly regarded as one of the best golf courses in North Central Victoria. We are a financially stable club with an expectation for strong growth into the future and we are looking for a greenskeeper to help drive our vision and maintain the reputation as one of the best golf courses in North Central Victoria.
At your disposal will be a well-equipped greenkeepers shed with an array of equipment that will assist in maintaining an 18 hole par 71 course measuring 5861 meters in length. The course is relatively flat with tree lined, fully irrigated fairways and grass greens. You will also be armed with a committed greenkeeping apprentice and an army of enthusiastic and well-skilled volunteers.
This is the perfect opportunity for someone looking to step into the Head Greenskeeper role at the Heathcote Golf Club (HGC).
Your duties will include:
Turf Management – Oversee the maintenance and care of the golf course turf, ensuring optimal playing conditions. Staff supervision – Course volunteers work under the direction of the head greenkeeper and mentor the apprentice in all aspects of course management and TAFE studies (Cert 3: Course Turf Management). Course Maintenance – Implement and execute a comprehensive maintenance plan for mowing (greens, fairways, tee box & rough), irrigation, fertilizing & weed control and pest control. Equipment Management – Ensure proper operation and maintenance of all groundskeeping equipment, coordinating repairs and replacements as required. Budget management – Assist the committee with the development and management of the groundskeeping budget, optimizing resources efficiently to maintain the course in prime playing conditions. Project planning – Plan and execute course improvement projects such as bunker renovations, tee box enhancements, and landscaping upgrades. Collaboration – Work closely with the elected executive committee regarding all aspects of course management detailed above. The successful candidate should possess the following:
Extensive knowledge of turf management, irrigation systems, and pest control is a must. Strong communication skills with the ability to motivate and manage a volunteer workforce is essential. Familiarity with environmental best practices in golf course maintenance is desirable. Certificate III Horticulture or Certificate III Sports Turf Management is desirable. Certification from relevant industry association is desirable but not essential. How to Apply
