Temporary Full-Time Regulatory Officer (24 months with the potential availability for ongoing employment) - Grade 7/8 at the Information and Privacy Commission NSW (IPC) About the role: As the Regulatory Officer at the Information and Privacy Commission NSW (IPC) you will undertake proactive and reactive work by applying your skills in dispute resolution, problem solving, influencing and negotiations to bring about the timely resolution of issues in contention and bring about systemic compliance.
This will also include sampling, auditing and other regulatory initiatives informed by intelligence and data analysis to educate and elevate regulatory compliance.
Your key accountabilities include: Plan, prioritise and manage a caseload of files within set timeframes to achieve high quality outcomes including maintaining key relationships; providing responsive customer service and meeting organisational goals.Undertake a range of regulatory work relating to the legislation administered by the IPC by collecting information from members of the public and/or agencies; undertaking research; reviewing and analysing documents; interpreting legislation; issue identification, problem solving, exercising alternative dispute resolution; making findings or recommendations and preparing reports/correspondence.Ensure effective, regular and timely communication with parties by providing information and guidance to the public and agencies through tailored communication to clearly explain concepts including the legislation administered by the IPC and its interpretation and application; obtaining and clarifying information and where appropriate undertaking the informal resolution of complaints; write fluently and accurately.Identify systemic or significant non-compliance issues; anticipate, identify and address issues and potential problems and select the most effective solutions from a range of options; work collegiately with IPC staff on devising appropriate responses.Support and facilitate improved agency compliance with legislative obligations including undertaking projects and working collaboratively with other IPC staff to contribute to the development and implementation of business process and service delivery improvements.About you: The IPC are seeking a pro-active and enthusiastic individual with demonstrated experience in administrative law, investigations or undertaking regulatory activities including proactive regulatory initiatives.
The successful applicant will have excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate and facilitate early resolution of issues between parties.
You will have research and analytical skills and a demonstrated ability in the analysis of data using quantitative and qualitative approaches, including the capacity to compile and interpret complex data/issues rapidly and accurately in reports/communication.
To be successful in this role you will have: Appropriate tertiary qualifications or demonstrated experience in law, investigations or undertaking regulatory functions.Demonstrated experience in undertaking a range of regulatory activities including investigations and proactive regulatory initiatives with a sound understanding of case management and investigation principles, process and practices.Research and analytical skills and demonstrated ability in the analysis of data using various approaches, including the capacity to compile and interpret complex data/issues rapidly and accurately in reports/communications.How to apply for the role at the IPC Your application should include a cover letter of no more than 2 pages, and an up-to-date resume of no more than five pages which clearly details your skills and experience as relevant to this role.
