Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for the above positions in the Western Sydney Local Health District.
This position is expected to be based within Western Sydney Local Health District at Cumberland Hospital, but as agreed with the Executive Medical Director MH in any other part of the Mental Health Service.
The position will be primarily located at Cumberland Hospital in the Sub-Acute/Non-Acute Rehabilitation Units but with scope to be considered to be a part of Sub-Acute/Non-Acute services including community within the Western Sydney Mental Health Service.
There are a comprehensive range of treatment programs and areas of active research.
Successful applicants will be working in a motivated and highly rewarding position within a well-established senior team, supported through high quality supervision and training.
There are opportunities for supervision, consultation, presentations, and innovative research as part of the role.
Successful applicants will be expected to provide admitting, consultative, diagnostic, procedural, outpatient and on call services within the specialty as determined and required by the district.
This position may involve travel within the District.
Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within three months may be considered.
If successful, the applicant may not be subsequently eligible to commence their appointment until after the relevant qualifications and requirements are formally completed.
Essential Requirements for Appointment Possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award. Sound clinical knowledge in Psychiatry Sub-Acute/Non-Acute/Rehabilitation Units demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position. Successful applicants may be offered a conjoint university appointment within the Faculty of Medicine at the relevant University attached to each facility.
The level of academic appointment will be commensurate with the qualifications, experience and scholarship and will be held only during the tenure of the Western Sydney Local Health District appointment.
No remuneration is attached to the University appointment.
The appointee will be responsible to the University for academic matters and to the District for clinical matters.
Conditions of appointment are in accordance with the Staff Specialists (State) Award.

Evidence of additional qualifications, skills and/or experience required for specific scope of practice for the specialty. Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including: Proven ability to work effectively and harmoniously with medical and other health services colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary health care team. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues. Excellent organisational, supervision and collaboration skills with demonstrated ability to build respectful relationships. Maintaining and developing knowledge, skills and professional performance to the level required for contemporary practice. Experience and involvement in quality assurance activities and translation of research into practice to improve patient safety and quality. Demonstrated ability to manage time and resources efficiently and contributing to the effectiveness and efficiency of the health care system. Demonstrated aptitude for clinical leadership which is evidenced by: Systems thinking and risk-taking aptitude. Commitment to self-care and personal development. Capacity to maintain personal integrity, tolerate stress and demonstrate resilience. Commitment to building relationships, leading, and developing others. Results and outcome focused. Commitment to good governance, achieving results and managing risks. Demonstrated commitment to Education, Training and Research, as applicable to the position.
