The successful candidate will use independent scientific judgment to analyse patient specimens, verifying and validating test results, and providing advice to the clinical unit when appropriate. Additionally, you will conduct diagnostic testing and related duties in accordance with Pathology Queensland's established accredited protocols and standards, working within a single or multidisciplinary team and adhering to prescribed professional and ethical standards.Key competencies (role specific criteria)You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:Demonstrated knowledge and skills in performing analytical and technical aspects of common analysis including delivery of scientific judgement in a multi discipline medium sized pathology laboratory.Ability to work accurately and effectively in a multidisciplinary laboratory team with minimal/no supervision, including:A demonstrated ability to plan and prioritise workloads according to clinical requirements.A demonstrated ability to apply independent scientific judgement in the analysis of patient specimens leading to the verification and validation of test results and the provision of advice to the clinical unit where appropriate.A demonstrated ability to work independently towards logical solution of scientific and technical problems.Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate accurately and concisely in either written or oral forms with medical and non-medical staff.Demonstrate ability (or ability to acquire the skill) to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ ISO accreditation / certification.Qualifications, registrations and other requirementsThe successful applicant must hold at least a tertiary degree qualification in Medical Laboratory Science (or equivalent) from a recognised university or tertiary institution.Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/ manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.Whilst this position currently participates in the laboratory's continuous shift roster, and may work a combination of day, afternoon, evening and overnight shifts within each fortnight if required.The candidate will be required to undertake frequent manual handling, bending and lifting.Please detail any visa conditions you may have if you are not a permanent resident of Australia.We understand that some people may require adjustments to the workplace or the way the work is performed.
