Brown's Mart works closely with the Larrakia people to ensure respect and acknowledgement for their elders and for the country on which we make work.
We support the development and presentation of new performance work across multiple artforms and throughout the Brown's Mart Precinct, which contains a flexible black box theatre, a live music venue and an open-air courtyard.
In addition to housing Brown's Mart's own arts programs, the precinct is home to a variety of users.
Funded by the Northern Territory Government through Arts NT, Brown's Mart is supported by a range of stakeholders including Creative Australia, and the City of Darwin.
Brown's Mart partners with various local and national arts organisations including Darwin Festival, Darwin Fringe Festival, Corrugated Iron Youth Arts, Tracks Dance, Artback NT, Performing Lines and Australian Theatre for Young People.

Duties and Responsibilities The Technical Manager is responsible for all technical aspects and associated staffing of the Brown's Mart Precinct ensuring compliance with Risk Assessment and WHS standards.
The Technical Manager manages and develops Brown's Mart's equipment hire service, and works with other Brown's Mart team members facilitating the smooth operations of Brown's Mart's programs.
The Technical Manager is also responsible for venue maintenance and ensuring the ongoing operational effectiveness of the venue.
They manage a casual technical team, and ensure an inclusive, flexible, supportive environment for our artists, audiences and community.
Operations Manage technical resources and equipment condition, including maintaining records and technical specifications for venues and equipment.
Communicate with Venue Hire Manager on technical staffing skills and resources.
Manage Brown's Mart's off-site workshop and storage facilities.
Oversee an annual Test and Tag system for all mandated electrical equipment and cabling.
Manage and develop Brown's Mart's equipment hire business, advising on and meeting budget targets.
Manage all venue maintenance issues and liaise with contractors and the NT Government for all venue maintenance requirements.
Staffing Ensure that working conditions comply with Live the Performance Award and other relevant awards.
Recruit and manage casual technical staff as required by Brown's Mart productions and venue hires, and maintain a pool of qualified theatre technicians.
Maintain a high standard of Work Health and Safety across all areas adhering to WH&S guidelines and codes of practice.
Ensure Safety and Venue inductions are provided as required.
Provide advice and skills development, including familiarisation with technical equipment in Brown's Mart venues, as required for Brown's Mart technical and production employees.
Build and maintain relationships with local companies and stakeholders in the Arts sector.
Reporting and Compliance Ensure that safe work practices and policies are in place for all Brown's Mart projects and productions which comply with all necessary legislations and meet minimum Risk Assessment standards.
Complete a detailed Risk Assessment for any external equipment hires where staffing is provided by Brown's Mart.
Work with the Venue Hire Manager in overseeing the procedures for evacuation of the Brown's Mart Precinct and operation and location of all safety equipment.
Other Be willing to undertake professional development including conducting research so as to ensure industry skills and knowledge are relevant.
Contribute to an organisational culture of openness, creativity and safe work.
Any other reasonable duties as directed by the General Manager.

High-level organisational skills, the capacity to work with competing priorities, and an ability to manage flexible hours of work.
Excellent problem-solving skills, time management and attention to detail.
Experience managing client relationships and/or the successful delivery of a variety of events which might include performing arts or conferences.
Desirable Experience managing or working in a venue or public space.
Experience in Microsoft Office 365, MYOB and/or drafting software such as Vectorworks or Auto Cad and familiarity with Apple Mac interface.
Current Driver's Licence.
Current Test & Tag licence, and Intermediate Rigging Licence.
