Cyber Security Engineer

Location: Brisbane, Queensland Type: Contract Job #17395 About the role This role offers a dynamic opportunity to assist Queensland Government entities in enhancing their cybersecurity maturity through a consultative and collaborative approach in the design and implementation of robust technical cybersecurity solutions.
Additionally, it plays a pivotal role in mentoring a range of stakeholders, significantly contributing to their professional growth and career development Key responsibilities Deliver technical maturity assessments of entities' current cybersecurity posture to inform the scope and design of focused, tangible and sustainable uplift projects.
Design, deliver, oversee, and provide quality assurance for a range of technical cybersecurity uplift projects in close collaboration with government entities and third-party service providers.
The responsibilities may vary from project to project.
In some instances, the role will design and directly deliver focused technical uplift projects over short periods of time.
In other instances, the role will provide technical oversight and quality assurance over the delivery activities of other parties.
Provide subject matter expertise and general advice on information technology risk management and cybersecurity solutions.
This includes providing clear and effective recommendations to address complex cybersecurity issues.
Lead and mentor other team members on technical cybersecurity solutions.
Stay current with the latest cybersecurity trends and threats and technical solutions.
This includes providing current advice on suitable technologies to mitigate cybersecurity risks.
Highly desirable criteria Extensive experience in information technology risk management and cybersecurity, with a proven track record of advising on, designing and delivering technical solutions in a variety of environments including complex ones.
Extensive experience in implementing Microsoft security, compliance and identity technical capabilities.
Proficient in security, compliance, and identity technical solution capabilities relevant to several domains across identity and access management, endpoint management and protection, Cloud security, threat detection and response, data protection, network security, application security, email and collaboration security and third-party risk management.
Detailed knowledge of the Essential Eight and their maturity model, and Zero Trust architectures.
Strong analytical and diagnostic skills with experience conducting technical risk assessments and the development of technical risk management strategies.
Desirable criteria Willingness to undertake an NV1 National Security Clearance and ability to obtain and maintain such clearance.
Whilst not mandatory, Microsoft cybersecurity certifications, preferably including Microsoft Cybersecurity Architect Expert.
Additional cybersecurity professional certifications will also be valued, for example CISSP, CISM or SABSA.
