Operations Manager

The global travel retail industry is a €70 Billion market expected to double by the end of this decade. Despite its size, it is an industry that has seen very little digitalisation and innovation over the past two decades. This must be solved.
We are launching a brand-new venture backed by one of the largest players in the industry. Duffle is looking for an Operations Manager to join the help to launch the MVP, and then scale the product post-launch. The **Operations Manager** will be the right hand for Duffle C-level on the ground.
This is a unique startup position - with sufficient funding, we can offer the impact, growth opportunity and challenge of a new startup along with competitive compensation.
The timing could not be better to emerge as a category winner: the global pandemic has accelerated the demand for a better and renewed approach to global travel retail and as the world begins to open again, pent-up demand for travel and travel-related retail is set to boom as brands, retailers, airports, and airlines are doubling down their efforts to make up for lost sales.
**What you will do**:
- Work closely with the VP Operations and leadership team on the Operations strategy for your location, and own the operational set-up and execution for the MVP launch.
- Own the fleet management including recruiting, staffing and performance management.
- Network, coordinate, cooperate and communicate with all relevant stakeholders across the company to ensure smooth operations.
- Ensure appropriate onboarding, set up staffing & training of airport staff.
- Optimise processes to ensure a great customer experience and efficiency.
- Enable local teams through forecasts, processes and tools to reach set goals.
- Partner with other operations managers to drive best practices across multiple locations.
**Location**: Berlin (Germany) or Vienna (Austria).
**About your profile**:
- Extensive experience in Operations or in a similar role - preferably with within Quick Commerce, Airport Operations or Travel Retail.
- Creative problem-solving skills: out-of-the-box, pragmatic and quick solutions to remove any obstacles and ensure continuous progress.
- Strong analytical thinking and the ability to explore and identify new ways/areas that help solve complex business issues, further differentiates the company and services, accelerates growth or provides significant cost optimisations through automation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, and willingness to always be available to mentor anyone that needs help or support.
- Hands-on mentality.
- Proficiency in English.
