- The Deputy Director works closely with the Director to lead and manage the CEU Library in the service of students and staff. The Deputy is largely responsible for day-to-day operations on the Vienna campus and helps drive the strategic direction of the library. The Deputy maintains awareness of developments in the field and promotes those that might fit the needs of the CEU Library. In addition to helping meet the information needs of students and researchers, the Deputy also helps implement services and infrastructure to promote research produced at CEU. The Deputy serves on the Director’s Leadership Team and serves on other library, university, and professional committees as appropriate. The Deputy develops and maintains positive and productive relationships with colleagues in other libraries in Austria, as well as with vendors and publishers.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Assist the Library Director in planning and directing library programs, developing collections, and developing policies and procedures.
- Oversee daily operation of the library, particularly in the absence of the Library Director.
- Aid in preparing and monitoring the annual collections and operations budget.
- Participate in the ongoing management of the library's website.
- Promote staff development to ensure a highly trained workforce.
- Develop reports, policies, presentations, and proposals as needed.
- Manage the Library Information Desk and staff schedules
- Occasionally provide direct library public service at the Information Desk, online via the Library virtual help service, and by appointment
- Promote faculty research visibility
- Work in designated databases (Alma, Pure, DSpace, SAP, etc) to enter data and update records
- External relations
- Represent CEU Library at the Austrian Academic Library consortia (KEMÖ) and in other professional venues
- Ensure the supply of key electronic resources via KEMÖ, in cooperation with the Head of Electronic Re-sources and Services
- Serve as a liaison to Austrian libraries and aligns CEU library requirements accordingly, e.g., ILL, copy-right, VAT charges

**Qualifications**
- Master of library and information science OR Master of library and information studies OR comparable
- 6-10 years demonstrated work experience in a similar position
