The Department of Music Physiology at the mdw is an interdisciplinary institution at the intersection of music, music physiology and music medicine. Through the coaching of mental and physical techniques, the department supports and advances the training of professional musicians.

The goal of the department is to promote healthy practices for musicians in their day-to-day work, with regard to their physiology, their psychology and their mental health. With its specialist expertise, music physiology makes a decisive contribution both to the development of the arts and to sustainability in the music profession.

This tenure-track position has been established with a view to advancing the scientific and research activities in this practice-oriented field. Building on knowledge of the state-of-the-art in international music physiology research and teaching, this position should serve to strengthen the interconnectedness between physiology, psychology and medicine. The successful applicant is expected to further develop this interdisciplinarity in research and teaching, making it accessible for applied work in music physiology.

**Tasks**:

- Specialist research in the field of music physiology or music medicine.
- Development, participation and implementation of (third-party funded) research projects.
- Engagement in the research priorities of the Department of Music Physiology at the mdw
- Teaching in the field of music physiology
- Supervision of academic theses (at bachelor, master and diploma levels)
- Participation in organisational, administrative and committee tasks, as well as in assessment and evaluation.

According to the Austrian collective labour agreement, the position will be classified into the salary group B1/Postdoc with a monthly gross pay of € 4.061,50 (14 times). After completion of a qualification agreement and the fulfilment of the qualification goals a reclassification to the salary group A2 for Senior Assistant Professors and Associated Professors will follow (minimum salary of € 5.175,50).

Additional comments

The employment relationship is limited to a period of 6 years and offers the possibility of concluding a qualification agreement. After successful achievement of the qualification goals, the transition to a permanent position as associate professor takes place.

Skills/Qualifications
- Outstanding academic credentials relating to the area in question, demonstrated through relevant lectures and publications on music physiology or music medicine research and its methods.
- Research focus in the field of music physiology or music medicine, experience conducting relevant research projects.
- Musical (instrumental or vocal) training preferably at a professional, or at a least semi-professional level.
- Several years' teaching experience in higher education.
- Active in relevant international networks and organisations.

**Required Languages**:

- German: Excellent

- Competence in applied music physiology and its practical implications for musicians.
- Experience with established bodywork techniques in the teaching of music physiology.
- Competences in inter
