Jack's Point Golf Course is an 18-hole par 72 championship course consistently rated amongst the top golf courses in New Zealand. It opened for play in November 2008 and has forged a reputation as a 'must play golf course’ for golfers of all abilities.
The course has been designed in harmony with the natural environment, weaving through native tussock grasslands, dramatic rock outcrops, steep bluffs and swathes of native bush to the edge of Lake Wakatipu. The presentation of the course is second to none, which makes Jack’s Point one of the world’s great golfing experiences.
Jack's Point Golf Course is committed to environmental sustainability. The course is GEO Certified and has received two Awards Internationally in recognition of its commitment to the ongoing protection and enhancement of the natural landscape. The Horticulturist/Greenkeeper helps us to ensure the supply and health of our plants and trees, as well as works in with our greenkeeping team to complete greenkeeping duties.
**About the Role**
As a Horticulturist/Greenkeeper you will be responsible for ensuring the maintenance, care and overall presentation and health of our golf course grounds and gardens, and that they are maintained to the highest level.
- Landscape management of garden beds, trees, native bush and surrounding areas
- Planting/replanting and nurturing new trees, bushes, lawns and plants
- Propagating/growing native plants from seedlings and cuttings ensuring we maintain supply of plants and turf
- Regular fertilising and pest control of trees & plants to ensure plant health
- Ensuring plants and grassed areas are well looked after and watered on a regular basis in times of drought and summer
- Maintaining lawns, turf, garden areas and cart paths to a high standard, ensuring they are fertilised, sprayed, watered and mowed
- Prune trees, shrubs and hedges to ensure plant health and aesthetic, and administer support/treatment as required
- Ensure our garden areas, lawns and turf are weed-free/weed-controlled and top-dressed/fertilised
- Ensure golf course turf is precisely mowed/rolled to enable an unrivalled playing experience for our discerning guests
- Assist with any over-sowing of turf and repairs of greens as required
- Operate and maintain tools and machinery such as lawn mowers, hedge trimmers/clippers, aerators, corers, saws and other key golf course equipment in line with company procedures.
- Assisting in the overall day-to-day presentation and preparation of the Golf Course
**About You**
- A relevant qualification or atleast 12 months experience in horticulture and greenkeeping
- Knowledge of native plants and propagation techniques with an eye for details
- Passion for gardening/landscaping and the environment
- Skillful with machinery, operating it safely/efficiently and taking care of it
- A relevant qualification would be highly regarded
- A Growsafe certificate would be ideal, however training can be provided if required
- Driver's licence, as required to drive around site and on public roads
- Good knowledge of and commitment to Health and Safety
- Friendly, professional and active team contributor
- Excellent communication skills
- Good health, physical fitness and comfortable working outdoors
- Flexibility with working hours/rosters and early starts
