**Head of Medical Affairs, Austria (f/m/d)**

**About the role**

The Head of Medical Affairs is an important member of the Austrian Leadership team and leads the Austrian medical organization driving the medical strategy development in the several Therapeutic Areas in alignment with the respective local strategy for Austria and assuring that operationally the team is efficiently working and delivering.

The incumbent will cross-functionally collaborate with the local, regional and global teams to set the strategic direction for Austrian Medical team and establish Biogen as the most trusted medical-scientific partner of the neuroscience community. In parallel, the incumbent will ensure that the Austrian medical department is operating in high quality standards.

The Head of Medical Affairs Austria will be the internal and external voice of the Austrian Medical team, live and promote an empowering and inspiring leadership style and will effectively partner cross-functionally, clearly communicate, oversee and drive projects with a strong business acumen and highest ethical standards.

**What You’ll Do**
- Guarantee timely planning and execution of the Austrian Medical strategy and corresponding operational activities while ensuring highest level of integrity.
- Build, lead and inspire a high performing Austrian Medical Team and connect the team to the Austrian operating structure (based on the medical value model).
- Ensure the assessment of Medical competencies, skills, and effectiveness and drive continious development.
- Liaise with ECP and Global medical partners as well as Austrian cross-functional partners to ensure alignment and efficient execution of the medical strategy and plan.
- Ensure that medical communication and the processes across the region, functions and countries are aligned and running efficiently as well as ensure best practice sharing.
- Provide medical knowledge/expertise and leadership for medical projects and specific tasks for the Austrian affiliate.
- Ensure that operationally Austrian medical department is doing the assigned tasks and activities with highest quality and in a timely manner
- Ensure that all activities are compliant with all applicable external regulations and internal policies and procedures. Support compliance activities amongst others by providing trainings and developing SOPs.

**Qualifications**:

- Medical-scientific background (MD, PharmD, PhD or MSc, VetMed)
- 10 years related experience in a Sr Medical Affairs position, ideally with exposure to neurology and a well established network within the Austrian medical community
- Experience of leading medical teams and departments with strong leadership, management, and planning skills.
- Proven understanding of the life science industry and the ECP health-care systems
- Proven ability to develop and implement medical-scientific strategies and action plans (evidence generation, evidence dissemination - including the organization, management and implementation of HCP training and education programs)
- Strong knowledge of all aspects of drug development, GCP and local regulations, incl. regulations of Promotional materials in Austria. Familiar with global regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in German and English and the ability to formulate medical-scientific narratives with precision
- Capability to understand, interpret, and clearly and precisely communicate complex medical-scientific information

Minimum annual gross salary of 75.000,00 €, depending on qualification and experience willingness to overpay.
