**Co-Processing of API combinations for Inhalation therapy**

To dedicated students of Pharmacy, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Engineering or related disciplines.

**Objective**

Within this project we will develop novel, co-processed drug particles for the treatment of lung diseases. The co-processing systems to be investigated are co-crystals or co-amorphous systems.

Screening methods will include thermal techniques such as hot scanning microscopy (HSM), vacuum compression molding and co milling in conjunction with differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Promising active ingredient combinations will be selected for laboratory-scale batch production trials via spray drying.

Another part of this work will be dedicated to full characterization of the produced batches in terms of morphology and physico-chemical characterization.

Further, the powders will be tested regarding their suitability for dry-powder-inhalation, using an impactor device to assess their aerodynamic performance.
