**Principal Scientist - Project Lead Scientist in Pharmaceutical Development (f/m/d), SDC, Kundl, Austria**>500 million That is how many patients we reach with our products every year, improving their lives. As a Formulation Scientist, it is your opportunity to take part in pioneering with us in a role of a technical leader from molecule allocation until market approval. Take the lead as a central piece of drug product development by designing the formulation and the process of manufacturing, from laboratory scale to commercial scale. **Your key responsibilities**:Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to: - Actively support product development with scientific input and generate scientific documents to hand over to internal and/or external partners and support generation of international registration documents - Report, interpret, and present scientific/technical results to management - Participate in technical sub-teams and fulfill assigned project tasks and responsibilities - Actively participate in knowledge exchange; train, mentor and coach a team of scientists and technicians, temporary employees, and employees under training/education **Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion**: - Novartis is committed to building an outstanding, inclusive work environment and diverse teams representative of the patients and communities we serve._ **Minimum requirements** **What you’ll bring to the role**:Essential**: - PharmD, MSc or Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Science or close pharmaceutical-related field - 3+ years of experience in the pharma industry in Formulation and Process development (academic experience not applicable) - Strong background in solid and liquid drug product formulation and process development as well as characterization and deformulation, particularly in oral solid dosage forms and injectables - General understanding of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics - Strong knowledge in QbD and ICH guidelines - Knowledge in primary packaging and medical device selection and characterization - Knowledge and proven experience with DOEs in pharmaceutical development - Sharp scientific skills allowing the drawing of accurate assumptions from limited data to assess the next step in a development program, strong communication and presentation skills and persuasive personality with a positive mindset, team-minded and a strong can-do attitude with passion for supporting the international scientific team in solving pharmaceutical challenges using a systematic approach - Experience with pharmaceutical patents and Pharmacopeia monographs - Fluency in English **Desirable requirements**: - In silico tools in drug product development - Track record of peer-reviewed publications demonstrating scientific success and ability to write in a scientifically sound manner - GMP and GDP knowledge **Why Novartis?**769 million lives were touched by Novartis medicines in 2020, and while we’re proud of this, we know there is so much more we could do to help improve and extend people’s lives. In accordance with Austrian law, we are obliged to disclose the minimum salary as stated in the collective bargaining agreement. For this position the minimum salary is € 52.204,04/year (on a full time basis).
