We are a leading research organisation in the area wood and wood-related renewable resources in Europe. Our core competences are materials research and process technology along the complete value chain - from raw material to finished products. We develop methods and basics and perform applied research on the economy-science interface, in order to enable resource-efficient management in the circular bioeconomy.

Our team, Sustainable Innovation and Impact Assessment, is looking for a:

***About us**:
We work at the interface of technology and economy with the aim of successfully shaping innovation processes by providing tailor-made information. Considering Wood K plus conducts research in three different technical areas, the context of their research is also reflected in SIIA’s tasks, e.g. investigations on market potential of new products or technologies and their social acceptance. Using a wide variety of analysis methods, market barriers can be identified and addressed, or market opportunities can be targeted. In addition, together with our research partners we assess economic, ecological and social impacts of new materials and processes alongside R&D. In this way, we support our partner companies in their contribution to climate protection and sustainable development.

***Your responsibility**:

- Study of recent literature and state of the art on LCSA, comparison and choice of applicable methods
- Development of an adequate research design in a self-responsible manner, combining LCA, LCC and SLCA
- Independent collection & analysis of data (literature and case study)
- Support project partners in data collection, identifying sustainability hotspots in product development, finding levers for product improvement along the value chain
- Publication activities in peer-reviewed journals
- Presentations at scientific conferences
- Preparation of meetings with the project consortium and presentation of work
- Co-Supervision of Master Theses

***Requirements**:

- Completed Master’s degree in a field of study related to environmental or sustainability assessments such as social sciences, environmental economics, systems analysis, or natural resources management
- Knowledge of at least one of the following: sustainability assessment using Life Cycle Assessment, Life Cycle Costing or Social Life Cycle Assessment OR other methods of eco-efficiency or social costs/acceptance assessment
- Flexibility towards adaption of tasks and working process to be able to keep up with the technical developments in the project
- English language proficiency

***Other desired qualifications**:

- Interest in studying a portfolio of methods and comparing outcomes of the analysis
- Experience in academic writing (e.g. own publications)
- Full commitment to research and willingness to learn
- Project management skills and team player
- German language proficiency
