INITIAL SITUATION
In IFE, a standard bolted joint consists of a hexagon or cap screw, a nut and a spring washer (under the head and under the nut).
According to the rail vehicle standard DIN 25201, safety-critical bolted joints must be verified by calculation.
The calculation of bolted joints is defined in the internationally recognized guideline VDI 2230. However, VDI 2230 does not consider spring washers.
TASKS
Research of already known calculation approaches for the consideration of spring washers in bolted connections from the technical literature
Measurement of the spring characteristic for different spring steel and stainless steel washers used in IFE
Determination of a method for the consideration of the spring washer effect in a manual bolt calculation based on VDI 2230
Determination of a method for consideration of the effect of the spring washer in an FE calculation with Ansys in accordance with VDI 2230
Documentation of the measurements and the developed calculation methods
Presentation of the results
**REQUIREMENTS**:
Studies at a technical university or university of applied sciences
Basic knowledge of bolt calculation and finite element analysis
