**About on-call employment with ICF**
Given the project-specific nature of our work, ICF often hires environmental professionals as “On-Call” employees. On-Call employees are scheduled for work hours intermittently as needed. On-Call employees are paid on an hourly basis and will be eligible for overtime pay per federal and state regulations. On-Call employees may work concurrent projects outside of their ICF assignment (as long as their outside work does not create a conflict of interest with the work they do for ICF).
**In this position you will be tasked with the following**:
As an Archaeologist at ICF, you will lead and/or contribute to archaeology and cultural resources studies as either stand-alone projects or as part of larger multi-disciplinary projects. Technical duties will include conducting background research, field survey, laboratory analysis, and eligibility evaluation and documenting the results in technical reports suitable for agency and State Historic Preservation Office consultation. You will also combine your archaeology technical skills with strong regulatory compliance expertise to develop project-level analysis and programmatic solutions for National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Section 106 compliance (and state compliance, as applicable). You will contribute to marketing and proposal efforts for cultural resources opportunities or as part of a larger team on multi-disciplinary opportunities. This archaeologist position will work closely with our senior archaeologists and historic preservation specialists on project work, with opportunities to direct and mentor early career team members.
**What you will be doing**:
- Provide analysis/writing for environmental regulatory reviews under NEPA, National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), and state requirements.
- Provide technical expertise in archaeology, including technical approach development, self-directed technical analysis and documentation, and collaboration with junior and senior technical colleagues.
- Write and produce technical reports or documents.
- Evaluate resources for the National Register of Historic Places. Develop resource management recommendations and assess project effects on resources.
- Collaborate with architectural and landscape historians toward an integrated multi-disciplinary approach to cultural resources management.
- Collaborate in an integrated team with engineers, scientists, planners, regulators, and other stakeholders.
**What you need to have (minimum qualifications)**:
- Master’s degree in Archaeology or related field with 2+ years of experience in cultural resources management
- 2+ years of experience conducting field visits at locations primarily in the Mountain West United States (Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado, and/or Wyoming)
- Must have valid driver’s license and successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check
**What we would like you to have (preferred experience)**:
- Registered Professional Archaeologist.
- 2+ years of experience in project management.
- Working knowledge of Section 106 of the NHPA, NEPA, and other state and federal environmental regulations.
- Demonstrated capability to serve as technical lead on archaeological field studies.
- Ability to be Bureau of Land Management (BLM)-permitted in the Rocky Mountain, Great Basin, and/or Southwestern U.S. areas.
- Experience conducting or supporting consultation with Tribal representatives.
- Fieldwork skills including pedestrian and subsurface survey, testing and evaluation, and monitoring.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a multi-disciplinary environment.
