We are looking for a 42 transcenders for
TECHNICAL LEAD & PEDAGOGICAL ASSISTANT (w/m/d)
Full-time 38.5 hours | Location: Wels

In this key role, you will report directly to the Campus Manager of 42 Wels. Your primary mission is to supervise and maintain the entire local network and services dedicated to the 42 curriculum, ensuring high quality of service. Additionally, you will support the Pedagogical Lead in implementing and monitoring the 42 teaching methods. Depending on your experience level, the focus will shift dynamically: While you start with a strong focus on setting up and stabilizing the IT infrastructure (approx. 50%), your role will evolve to support the pedagogical team more intensively over time.

Your responsibilities IT Infrastructure & Operations (Technical Lead):

• System Administration: Manage and maintain the local IT infrastructure, including the computer clusters, servers, and network equipment to ensure 100% uptime for students.
• Network Management: Oversee local network services, manage VLANs, firewalls, and ensure a high quality of service (QoS) for the campus.
• Maintenance: Perform regular software updates, hardware troubleshooting, and coordinate with external vendors or the 42 Vienna IT team.
• Deployment: Set up and deploy the specific 42-environment and services needed for the curriculum (exam sessions, evaluation tools).

Pedagogical Support:

• Curriculum Support: Assist the Pedagogical Lead in monitoring the 42next curriculum and answering technical questions from students.
• Events & Challenges: Support the organization and technical setup of hackathons, rushes, exams, and workshops.
• Monitoring & Integrity: Use your technical skills to analyze student data for progress tracking and develop/improve tools to detect plagiarism.Mentoring: Act as a point of contact for Tutors and help guide the student community.

• Agility: You can switch contexts easily between "fixing a server" (IT) and "advising a student" (Pedagogy).
• Strong communication skills when dealing with various target groups (Applicants, pisciners, students, partners).
• Discretion and professionalism when dealing with confidential matters.
• Must-have: You have successfully completed the 42 Common Core (CC).

Your skills:

• System Administration: Solid background in Linux/Unix and administration. Experience with shell scripting (Bash/Zsh) is essential.
• Network & Infrastructure: Good understanding of network architecture (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs) and infrastructure management.
• DevOps & Tools: Knowledge of Docker, virtualization, and deployment tools.
• Coding: In-depth knowledge of C, C++ and Python (as per 42 Curriculum), knowledge of Go is an advantage
• 42 expertise: Deep understanding of the curriculum, the piscine, the peer-to-peer model, and the projects.Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, knowledge of German is a strong advantage (for communicating with local facility managers/providers).
