About the Role

We are seeking a detail-driven Senior Accountant to manage the full accounting lifecycle for our interim derivatives entity, which will transition to MiFID-regulated status. This role is central to ensuring accurate accounting treatment of complex derivative transactions, compliance with MiFID II and Austrian GAAP (UGB), and readiness for regulatory audits. You will work closely with Finance leadership, auditors, and regulators to maintain flawless ledgers and entity-specific financial reporting.

You will also play a key role in designing and shaping core finance processes in a fast-scaling, regulated environment. Your ideas will directly influence how we build the EU Finance function from the ground up, and you'll be part of defining best practices that will set the standard for our industry in Europe.

What You'll Do

• Set up and maintain the accounting framework for the derivatives entity, ensuring scalability for future MiFID operations.
• Record and reconcile derivative transactions, including valuation, margin movements, and P&L recognition.
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, ensuring compliance with UGB and MiFID II requirements.
• Prepare statutory financial statements and support regulatory reporting specific to the derivatives business.
• Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulators, providing complete and timely documentation.
• Maintain and improve internal controls for transaction processing, reconciliations, and reporting accuracy.
• Oversee accounts payable/receivable and treasury functions for the derivatives entity.
• Support Finance leadership in implementing accounting policies, SOPs, and system configurations.
• Assist in the migration of accounting processes to the future MiFID-licensed entity.

What You'll Bring

• 5+ years of professional accounting experience, including complex financial instruments or derivatives.
• Strong knowledge of Austrian GAAP (UGB) and MiFID II financial reporting requirements.
• Experience with monthly/annual closings, statutory financial statements, and audit preparation.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (ideally Oracle NetSuite) and Excel.
• Exceptional accuracy, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
• Professional fluency in English and German.
• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with a recognized accounting qualification.

Nice to Have

• Experience in a brokerage, investment bank, or cryptocurrency derivatives platform.
• Big 4 audit background or direct regulatory engagement experience.
• Exposure to multi-entity or cross-border finance operations.
