At the Institute of Materials Science and Technology, in the Research Group for Computational Materials Design TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant prae-doc (all genders) limited to expected 3 years for 30 hours/week. Expected start: December 2025.

Tasks:
  • Collaboration on research and teaching tasks as well as examinations
  • Cooperation and guidance of students
  • Research and project activity
  • Writing a dissertation and publications
  • Participation in scientific events
  • Assistance/Collaboration in organizational and administrative tasks
Your profile:
  • Completed Master's or Diploma degree in Materials Science, Technical Physics, Technical Chemistry, or a related field
  • Knowledge in the field of physical vapor deposition and thin film characterization
  • Basic knowledge of or interest in DFT calculations, electronic band structures, and optical properties
  • Excellent command of English
  • Strong interest in research on materials computation and optically active ceramic materials
  • Ability to work in a team, strong problem-solving skills, and creativity/innovation ability

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 2,786.10/month gross, 14 times/year for 30 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
