Your Mission

As a Cloud Security Engineer at Bitpanda, you will secure our cloud-native AWS infrastructure across core services, containerized workloads, and network boundaries. You will define and implement security controls, maintain visibility into our cloud security posture, and drive resilience and compliance across the environment. You'll act as a key subject-matter expert in internal strategy discussions, regulatory audits, and external due-diligence processes. You will stay ahead of the cloud threat landscape, emerging AWS capabilities and evolving regulatory expectations while supporting teams through security consulting and training.

• Design and enforce secure AWS architectures, including IAM guardrails, least-privilege models, encryption (in-transit and at-rest), VPC segmentation, and security monitoring.
• Manage and optimise AWS-native security tooling, owning GuardDuty, Security Hub, Inspector, Config, CloudTrail integrations, and policy-as-code within CI/CD workflows.
• Harden Kubernetes and containerised workloads, ensuring best-practice security for AWS EKS, container runtime settings, and cloud-native threat detection.
• Implement and maintain perimeter and network protection, including cloud firewalls, WAFs, bot-protection mechanisms, VPC/NACL/security-group controls, and hybrid connectivity (DirectConnect, Site-to-Site VPN).
• Drive continuous visibility and compliance, defining cloud security KPIs, enabling anomaly detection, and partnering cross-functionally to embed security from design to operation.

• Experienced in securing AWS in production (3+ years), ideally within regulated or high-compliance environments, with strong understanding of cloud-native security principles and zero-trust approaches.
• Skilled in AWS security services, including IAM, AWS Organizations, GuardDuty, Inspector, Config, CloudTrail, Security Hub, KMS, encryption and key management.
• Proficient with Kubernetes and cloud-native workloads, with deep understanding of container threat landscapes and EKS operational security.
• Competent in automation and infrastructure security, including Python/Bash scripting, Terraform/CloudFormation, and declarative enforcement of controls via CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledgeable in networking and compliance, covering TCP/IP, TLS, IPSec, segmentation strategies, endpoint policies, regulatory frameworks (DORA, ISO27001, CIS), and confident in leading technical discussions during audits.
