A postdoctoral position is available in the Martens Lab at the Max Perutz Labs, Vienna BioCenter.

Our lab investigates the mechanisms of autophagy, a pathway that clears cells of harmful substances. For reasons that remain unclear, autophagy stalls at disease-associated protein aggregates, such as Alzheimer's Tau tangles. In this ERC-funded collaborative project, we aim to uncover why autophagy halts at solid protein aggregates and how this process can be reactivated.

About the position

We invite applications from ambitious researchers with a strong and proven background in mechanistic cell biology or biochemistry to join our efforts to restore autophagy and promote the clearance of protein aggregates in disease.

Candidates

Successful candidates

  • Will hold PhD degree at the time of the start
  • Have experience in biochemistry and/or cell biology
  • Demonstrate team spirit and ambition
