Europa Search is supporting a leading European bank seeking a
Test Automation Specialist (Cypress / JavaScript)
to replace an existing contractor and join the product team long-term.

You'll be part of an agile squad working on a large-scale web application used by millions of customers, building and maintaining robust test automation around a modern JavaScript/TypeScript front-end.

Location & on-site expectations

  • You must be living in Bratislava, greater Bratislava or Vienna.
  • Hybrid setup: mostly remote from Bratislava, with
    1 day per week on-site in Vienna
    (team is Vienna-based).
  • Occasional visits to the Bratislava office may happen depending on the team's needs.

If you're not realistically able to commute to Vienna once per week, this role isn't a fit.

What you'll do

  • Design, implement and maintain
    end-to-end automated tests in Cypress
    for a complex web application.
  • Work hands-on in
    JavaScript/TypeScript
    , collaborating closely with developers and product owners.
  • Extend and improve the existing test automation framework and CI/CD integration.
  • Cover both
    UI and API layers
    (REST), including regression, integration and smoke test suites.
  • Help define test strategy and ensure good coverage across features (shift-left mindset).
  • Analyse failures, debug issues and work with the team to get to root causes quickly.
  • Actively participate in agile ceremonies (refinement, planning, reviews, retros).

What we're looking for

Must-haves:

  • Strong recent experience with Cypress
    for UI test automation on web applications.
  • Solid
    JavaScript or TypeScript
    programming skills.
  • Experience testing
    complex, customer-facing web apps
    (e.g. banking, fintech, e-commerce, SaaS).
  • Comfortable with
    API testing
    (REST) using tools like Postman, REST Assured or similar.
  • Used to working in
    Agile/Scrum
    teams alongside developers and product folks.
  • Based in
    Bratislava / greater Bratislava
    , with willingness to travel
    once per week to Vienna
    .
  • Good communication in
    English
    (spoken and written).

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience with
    Playwright
    or other modern JS-based automation tools.
  • Exposure to microservices environments (Kafka, message queues, etc.).
  • Banking / fintech experience.
  • Working with CI/CD (GitLab CI, Jenkins, Azure DevOps or similar).
  • BDD (Cucumber/Gherkin) experience.
