Short Job Description

As a Senior Data & GenAI / ML Engineer (f/m/d), you will work at the intersection of data engineering, GenAI/LLM productization and solution architecture, with a focus on solving real problems, not chasing buzzwords.
marktguru is a data-driven tech company working at the intersection of FMCG offer data, product intelligence, and consumer insights. Our platform helps users make smarter shopping decisions and supports retailers and brands with powerful data products. Over the past two years, we've built a modern data platform on Databricks (Azure). We're now looking for someone to help us evolve that platform further - scaling data pipelines, integrating GenAI capabilities, and owning end-to-end solutions across our data stack.

Remote work within Austria possible; residence in Austria required.

What you can expect in this role

Data Engineering & Platform

• Build and maintain robust PySpark/Python/SQL pipelines on our Databricks stack
• Improve performance, reusability, and governance of product and offer datasets
• Contribute to the overall platform architecture
• Configure and optimize Databricks workflows and clusters
• Handle occasional infrastructure tasks such as firewall settings or connector setup

GenAI and LLM Applications

• Develop and apply LLM-based applications (prompting, embedding, fine-tuning) to structure and enrich data
• Prototype and implement computer vision use cases such as extracting structured data from flyer images
• Work closely with data scientists to bring GenAI features into production
• Focus on practical solutions that integrate into the platform and provide value

Solution Ownership & Collaboration

• Take ownership of projects from idea to deployment
• Contribute architectural input for new features or pipelines
• Help define and maintain best practices across the data team
• Support and maintain CI/CD workflows via GitHub Actions
• Implement unit/integration tests for transformation logic, and build data-quality frameworks (constraints, assertions, expectations) to enforce accuracy at every stage

Your essential experience and education

Must-Haves

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering or building production-grade data platforms

• Strong skills in Python, SQL, and PySpark

• Experience working with Databricks on Azure

• Familiarity with LLMs and GenAI workflows (prompting, embedding or fine-tuning)

• Built at least one LLM or Vision-AI feature that reached production users (prompt engineering, embeddings or fine-tuning)

• Comfortable working hands-on across multiple layers of the data stack
  
  

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with computer vision models eg. VLMs

• Interest in or experience with event-driven or streaming architectures

• MLOps/LLMOps experience: MLflow, experiment tracking, model registry, and deploying models as part of data pipelines

• Informal or formal experience as a solution architect or technical lead

• German reading skills - useful for understanding product and offer data, but not required. All documentation, code, and communication are in English.

For this position, we offer a gross annual salary starting at € Depending on your qualifications and experience, we are of course open to overpayment.
