About the Role

Our client, a fast-growing R&D-driven organisation at the forefront of crop protection technologies, is seeking a talented
Formulation Scientist / Formulation Development Officer
to join their dynamic and multidisciplinary team.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of next-generation agricultural formulations that enable more sustainable and effective protection solutions for global agriculture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop innovative microencapsulated formulations using advanced techniques such as coacervation, interfacial and in-situ interfacial polymerisation, and emulsion-based systems.
  • Formulate active substances for agricultural applications, including pesticides and biological products, with careful consideration of physicochemical properties.
  • Select optimal excipients, surfactants, polymers, solvents, and carriers for complex formulations.
  • Design and stabilise emulsion and suspension systems; identify suitable rheological modifiers and anti-aggregation strategies.
  • Evaluate and improve the performance, stability, and release profiles of encapsulated actives.
  • Conduct analytical studies on capsule systems, including particle size distribution, morphology, encapsulation efficiency, and kinetics of active ingredient release.
  • Contribute to scale-up processes and collaborate with cross-functional team members in R&D, production, and quality.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree (MSc or PhD preferred) in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Biotechnology, Agrochemistry, Materials Science, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Proven experience in microencapsulation technologies (expertise in coacervation or polymerisation-based encapsulation is highly valued).
  • Familiarity with biodegradable materials and their application in formulation development is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of agrochemical formulation principles and the physicochemical behaviour of surfactants, polymers, solvents, and other formulation components.
  • Hands-on experience in developing and optimising stabile emulsion and suspension systems.
  • Competence in analytical methods for capsule and formulation characterisation.

What's on Offer

  • The chance to shape innovative solutions that contribute to sustainable agriculture.
  • A collaborative, research-driven environment with state-of-the-art facilities.
  • Competitive compensation package and opportunities for career growth.

If you have this type of background in a professional or potentially academia setting, I would be very interested to discuss with you.
