United by service and purpose, together, we are moving forward, building on a proud past towards a prosperous future.Working within Agri-Science Queensland, you will be part of a passionate team that creates, translates and embeds innovation in the Queensland agri-system through adaptive research, development and extension leadership, ensuring Queensland, Australian and global consumers have access to safe, affordable, trusted, sustainable and nutritious products.As our Technical Farm Officer, you will:• Provide operational support for research projects through the accurate operation, adjustment and calibration of plant and equipment including livestock handling, weighing and identification equipment and specialist research equipment.• Undertake livestock and pasture agronomic activities including cattle husbandry, grazing land management, livestock water systems installation and operation, machine operation, agricultural agvet and chemical application, care and maintenance of livestock to ensure welfare.• Undertaking property maintenance activities including light fabrication, construction and maintenance of yards, fences, livestock and other water supply systems and other farm infrastructure.• Work independently and with other staff, following instructions from supervisor and/or Research Facility Manager to successfully complete tasks to support research projects.• Provide technical and operational support to the maintenance program for heavy plant, vehicles, equipment, infrastructure, and land assets to ensure these are research ready, functional, safe and reliable.• Demonstrate initiative and responsibility taking by completing allocated tasks and activities accurately and to a high standard.• Establish and enhance, relationships to foster good working relationships with colleagues and clients.• Work in a safe manner following Work Health and Safety legislation and the Department's Code of Conduct.• Contribute to scientific integrity of RD&E projects and activities by rigid adherence to scientific protocols and quality assurance principles.• Utilise standard administrative programs, packages, and systems to assist with site operations and reporting (e.g., Ag Commander, Chemwatch, Corporate Card, etc.)Mandatory requirements• A Diploma or Associate Diploma in Agricultural or Animal Sciences or equivalent.• A current “C” class drivers' licence.• Q-Fever immunisation or confirmation of acquired immunity.• Capacity to live and work with a small team in a remote location.• Experience in extensive livestock and grazing property operations, farming and/or agricultural research in Northern Australia.• Applicants that do not possess the required qualification may be considered for appointment at a lower level.Applications to remain current for 12 months.Job Ad Reference:
