As part of our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (click to view our RAP), we have a goal to examine how SCA’s current and historical policies and practices have impacted on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, communities, families, children, our partners and our employees. We are aiming to identify any potential harms caused and determine appropriate forms of recognition and justice. A place to make a difference In this part‑time* (3‑4 days per week depending on your preference, days flexible) permanent role you’ll support the organisation to engage meaningfully in truth telling. This includes building a culture of listening and accountability, and guiding how our organisation changes in response to truth telling and becomes more culturally safe. That’s why this role is structured to provide advice to operational leaders who themselves will be responsible for engaging meaningfully on the ground, and to create a practical framework to guide their practice. In this, you’ll collaborate and align with internal groups, including our Reconciliation Leadership Group, First Nations Advisory Committee and yarning networks. Based in Melbourne or Brisbane ideally (though other locations will be considered), you’ll report to our RAP Program Manager. You’re a skilled communicator and relationship‑builder, able to navigate complex dynamics and engage with diverse audiences. Requirements A deep understanding and commitment to the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families and how these rights are experienced across different communities Experience working in or with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and First Nations people or communities, including Elders, families, children, and young people Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to engage with a variety of audiences, from frontline staff to senior management Strong initiative, problem‑solving skills, and the ability to coordinate activities across hybrid teams A commitment to upholding child‑safe practices and safeguarding children’s rights Note This position is only open to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander applicants.
