Role Overview Brisbane Festival invites an experienced Artistic Director to lead Australia’s most exciting, engaging and defiant arts event. The Artistic Director will shape a bold, international program that transforms the city into a stage, using the river, iconic landmarks and collaboration across borders to create art that enlivens, delights and disrupts. The Festival is positioned as the premier event in Queensland as the state prepares for the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games and the upcoming Cultural Olympiad. The Artistic Director will build upon the Festival’s artistic and commercial success and steer the organisation through its next era of development. Responsibilities Lead the artistic vision and programming of the Festival, creating a bold international programme that transports audiences beyond the everyday. Collaborate across borders, expanding and building new connections in the arts sphere as well as with corporate, philanthropic and government stakeholders. Progress the Festival’s growing production footprint through innovative collaborations, commissions and presentations. Inspire and motivate staff, partners and audiences, ensuring the Festival remains a vital part of Brisbane’s future. Build broad networks and maintain relationships with arts companies, shareholders, sponsors and donors. Guide the organisation through the lead‑up to the Cultural Olympiad and the city’s Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, ensuring a seamless, commercially successful festival. Qualifications & Desired Skills Proven experience as an Artistic Director or senior arts leadership position in a large, international arts festival. Visionary, commercially savvy arts leader with a track record of driving growth and innovation. A proven ability to collaborate with diverse partners and stakeholders, including artists, sponsors, government and community organisations. Strong leadership and team‑building skills, with the capacity to inspire and motivate staff and partners. Excellent organisational and strategic planning ability, with experience working within large budgets and complex programmes. Background in commissioning and staging large‑scale events that showcase diverse artistic disciplines. Application Details Closing date: 5pm 13 June.
