The Faculty of Science teaches approximately 7000 full-time students and employs around 500 academic staff and 300 general staff. It is one of the largest and most complex faculties of UNSW Sydney, comprising the School of Aviation, Biological Earth and Environmental Science (BEES), Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences (BABS), Chemistry, Materials Science and Engineering (MSE), Mathematics and Statistics, Psychology, and Physics, and several major research centres and field stations. The Project Manager – Calendar and Education Strategy will provide high-level coordination, project management, and delivery support for the Faculty of Science’s transition to the new academic calendar and related education strategy projects. It works in close partnership with the Academic Lead – Calendar and Education Strategy to ensure the effective delivery of Faculty-wide education transformation initiatives. Key responsibilities include: Coordinate and support the implementation of the Faculty of Science Calendar Transformation Operational Plan, ensuring alignment with Faculty and University strategic priorities. Develop and maintain project schedules, documentation, and reporting mechanisms for all projects under the calendar transformation umbrella, including assessment reform, program simplification, and program design alignment. Monitor progress, identify risks and interdependencies, and prepare regular project status reports for the Deputy Dean (Education) and Head, Science Education. Maintain the project risk register, monitor controls, and elevate strategic/policy risks to the Academic Lead and Head, Science Education. Coordinate the development and tracking of project budgets and expenditure, and seek approvals via the Head, Science Education. Provide secretariat and project management support to governance groups and working parties related to the calendar transformation. Act as a primary contact point for communication and coordination across Schools and central units on matters relating to the calendar and education strategy projects. Work closely with the Academic Lead to ensure consistent, transparent communication with academic and professional stakeholders. Support engagement and change management activities, including the development of communication plans, consultation materials, and implementation resources. Build and maintain productive relationships with academic and professional staff to facilitate collaboration and ensure local alignment with Faculty-wide initiatives. Ensure all project documentation and activities adhere to relevant UNSW governance frameworks, policies, and procedures. Support compliance tracking and reporting related to the Program Design Procedure (PDP) and Assessment and Feedback Policy. Prepare briefings, updates, and reports for committees, working groups, and Faculty leadership. Contribute to the continuous improvement of project management practices, templates, and tools within the Science Education portfolio. Support capability‑building activities for School and Faculty staff involved in program and curriculum transformation. Demonstrate the UNSW Values in Action and adhere to the UNSW Code of Conduct in all activities. Cooperate with health and safety policies and take reasonable care to ensure your own health and safety and that of others. Ensure hazards and risks psychosocial and physical are identified and controlled for tasks, projects, and activities that pose a health and safety risk within your area of responsibility. What we offer: $127k – $143k plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading. Fixed term – 2 years (to December 31, 2027). Full‑time (35 hours per week). About the successful applicant: Relevant tertiary qualification and/or equivalent experience in project management, education administration, or organisational change within a complex environment. Demonstrated experience in managing or coordinating multi‑stakeholder projects, ideally within higher education or public‑sector context. Strong organisational and time‑management skills, with a proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes to deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear documentation, reports, and communications for diverse audiences. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across organisational boundaries, engaging academic and professional staff at all levels. Experience in change management, stakeholder engagement, and implementation of process or policy reform. Proven analytical and problem‑solving skills, with experience using data and evidence to support decisions and measure outcomes. Sound understanding of budget monitoring and resource tracking. High level of computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and familiarity with AI tools such as Copilot and ChatGPT for productivity and analysis. An understanding of, and commitment to, UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
