The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Cook to join the team at The Learning Sanctuary Yeronga to produce high quality, nutritious meals and snacks for up to 117 children each day.

This role is Full-Time working 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday 6.30am - 2.30pm

About Us

Our children enjoy delightful indoor and outdoor play areas, rooms equipped with the latest age-appropriate technology and learning resources, and a range of activities.

Our menus meet nutritional guidelines and are high-quality, allowing young bodies to thrive both mentally and physically. As part of the Team, you will feel appreciated, valued and enjoy a truly supportive and fun work environment.

We are always celebrating different events and love to involve the cook in all events within the centre. We do team bonding days, shared meal events in the staff room and special lunches every so often. We are a very multicultural centre that love to highlight this

The Centre has a Commercial kitchen and you will provide 3 meals a day, a mixture between hot or cold meals as well as catering to various allergies within the service.

At capacity our Centre caters for up to 117 children with operating hours from 6:30am to 7:00pm.

We have a park right next door to the service that allows for a nice break at lunchtime, train station across the road for public transport, small food shops and a cafe located right next to the centre.

About You

• Experienced in Menu planning, budgeting, stock ordering & control
• Experienced in dietary and allergy safe requirements.
• Experienced in ensuring a clean and safe kitchen environment in accordance with the relevant Food Safety regulations
• Be a Team Player with great communication and interpersonal skills
• Be available for set shift days and times Monday to Friday

Successful Applicants must hold

• Completed or willing to complete Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
• A Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or an ACECQA approved Early Childhood qualification and experience in a cook role
• A current Working with Children’s Check / Blue Card / DCSI Clearance and First Aid
