Occupational Therapist – Grade 2 Western Health – Full‑time, Fixed‑Term (until September 2026) – Sunshine Hospital About The Role This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Allied Health professional to join the Secure Extended Care Unit 5 (Adult Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit) team. As the Grade 2 OT, you will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to collaboratively deliver best care to our consumers, champion high‑quality, coordinating case management, consumer‑centred care, and provide exceptional psycho‑social work alongside consumers with complex needs while supporting staff. Key Responsibilities Build a therapeutic alliance with the consumer and family/carers and maximise participation in collaborative recovery and wellness planning. Work collaboratively with other multidisciplinary team members to provide high‑quality, evidence‑based interventions that support consumers with complex mental health needs in the SECU setting. Provide Occupational Assessments including Functional Capacity assessments to identify occupational performance issues and Sensory Modulation preferences. Implement activity- and participation‑focused treatment approaches and support and train other staff in these approaches (sensory modulation, driving, vocation and group work interventions). Contribute to the orientation, education and training of other team members, pre‑qualified, student and entry‑level Occupational Therapists. Coordinate the group programme, including evaluation, multidisciplinary meetings with staff to review the programme and rostering of staff to facilitate groups. Contribute expertise in clinical meetings and support the team and other staff in their clinical decision‑making. About You Regulation: Registration under the Australian Health Practitioner National Law Act 2009 with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia. Qualification: An approved degree from a recognized school of Occupational Therapy or other qualifications for eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Occupational Therapy (VIC).
