Invest Gold Coast is the City of Gold Coast’s new investment and economic development organisation, established to drive growth, attract investment, and deliver city-shaping projects for Australia’s fastest-growing city. Invest Gold Coast is an independent entity with its own expert Board and leadership team, ensuring greater agility, transparency, and impact. The organisation works closely with the City of Gold Coast, its partner entities (Experience Gold Coast and Brand Gold Coast), investors, government partners, and the business community to: Promote the Gold Coast to domestic and international investors; Attract and facilitate major new investment projects; Provide independent commercial advice to Council on investment opportunities; and Strengthen the local business ecosystem, including export growth. About the role The Head of Corporate Relations operates at the intersection of economic development, advocacy, and strategic stakeholder engagement, supporting the leadership team and Board to elevate Invest Gold Coast’s profile, reputation, and impact. This role will be a key member of the leadership team, responsible for: Positioning Invest Gold Coast as a trusted, high-performing organisation across government, industry, investor, and community networks. Driving strategic advocacy and communications to secure political, community, and funding alignment for priority projects. Act as the primary advisor on advocacy, stakeholder engagement, and reputation management to the CEO and Board Chair. Strengthening domestic and international investment relationships, enabling the commercial and investment teams to progress opportunities successfully. Coordinating across the City of Gold Coast, Experience Gold Coast, and Brand Gold Coast to ensure communications are aligned while maintaining Invest Gold Coast’s independent voice. Providing strategic counsel on political, reputational, and stakeholder issues. Developing and delivering the corporate relations strategy aligned with organisational priorities and Board expectations. As Invest Gold Coast finalises its purpose, mission, and values, this role will work closely with the leadership team and Board to embed these principles across all stakeholder engagement, advocacy, and communications strategies, ensuring alignment with organisational identity and strategic priorities. About you You’re a self-starter who is highly motivated, with demonstrated experience in corporate relations, external affairs, media relations and/or stakeholder engagement. You have a proven track record of building and managing partnerships with corporations, government agencies (local, state and federal), councillors, and industry stakeholders. You are comfortable working cross-functionally and with senior executives and Board members, while being a strategic thinker with the ability to align corporate relations goals with organisational objectives. You have strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively, and demonstrated success in crisis management and reputation protection. You are a creative problem-solver who is able to address challenges and obstacles, with experience in governance and compliance reporting. You will also have tertiary qualifications in Business, Public Relations, Political Science, Communications, or related field.
