Volunteer Assistant Music Director

We have a dedicated committee and core group of musicians, who love making music together. Key responsibilities Rehearse and perform with the band weekly as an instrumentalist Rehearse and perform with the band as a conductor Facilitate the relevant warm up activities weekly Lead Sectional rehearsals Assist the MD(s) with planning concert programs and selecting repertoire Organise and direct, where necessary, public playouts Work alongside the band librarian(s) to ensure music is accessible for rehearsal Attend committee meetings and assist in preparing the MD reports Engage in professional learning to improve their skills (mentored by the MD(s) but also seek external opportunities to work with other clinicians) Be committed to eventually taking on co/Musical Directorship While we do have a full position description for the role, we are also willing to be flexible for the right candidate. The Assistant MD is also asked to attend committee meetings (held monthly), planning days and library days (one per year each normally).
