Wildlife Information Rescue And Education Service – Brookvale NSW WIRES is Australia’s largest wildlife rescue organisation and has been rescuing and caring for sick, injured and orphaned native animals for 40 years. WIRES' mission is to actively rehabilitate and preserve Australian wildlife and inspire others to do the same. WIRES operate a dedicated Wildlife Rescue Office assisting wildlife and the community across Australia 24-hours a day, 365 days a year, providing rescue advice and assistance for approximately 150,000 animals annually, as well as providing full-time mobile Wildlife Emergency Responders operating across NSW, South-East Queensland and Tasmania. WIRES also provides significant national support for hundreds of projects to assist with wildlife rescue and rehabilitation across Australia and collaborates nationally with major partners to support the long-term recovery of wildlife habitat and the preservation of native species. About The Role: This role is dedicated to improving our capability to provide fast, professional, emergency response services for native wildlife nationally. You will work closely with the Emergency Response Manager, volunteers, government agencies and relevant stakeholders to increase capacity to respond to major emergency events and improve outcomes for native wildlife. As part of this diverse role, you will be integral to the development of our national emergency response planning, ensuring that best standards and procedures are in place, take on a leadership role during emergency events and facilitate emergency response training for volunteers and staff. We are seeking candidates with emergency response, administration and wildlife experience. Experience in emergency management and/or disaster response. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to carry out wildlife emergency response duties and coordination during natural disaster events. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. High levels of computer literacy. Current Australian Class C Drivers licence or equivalent. Highly Desirable: First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain. Q Fever and Rabies vaccination or willingness to obtain. Please note: This is a 12-month contract with the potential for extension.
