Description: As a GIS Mapping Trainee, you will support the design, development and maintenance of Port Authority's GIS database and web-enabled GIS services. This is a full-time role based in Botany with rotation opportunities across Survey, Mapping, and Data teams. What You Will Do Collaborate to design and deploy GIS web applications Support the Survey team with charting, mapping, and CAD outputs Maintain data standards and procedures to ensure integrity Prepare accurate plans, maps and diagrams using GIS/CAD and associated software Assist with user training and provide support to maximise adoption Perform basic database administration and follow records / information compliance What You’ll Bring Studying or looking to enrol or complete a degree/diploma in Spatial Science, GIS, or a related field Curiosity for data quality and how it drives business decisions Clear written and verbal communication; strong attention to detail Driver’s license or ability to obtain one at the time of commencement Nice to Have Experience with CAD or GIS software Basic Python or SQL for data manipulation Interest in maritime, infrastructure, or environmental data Why join Port Authority of New South Wales?
