Aged Care Volunteer Visitor

Volunteers simply visit an elder once a week or fortnightly to provide friendship. Many elders cannot see their families and their friends have passed. There is a need for connection. Volunteers, in whichever way they prefer to connect, provide this through listening, talking, painting, doing nails, going for walks, sharing language and culture, or simply sitting and being present. We match volunteers with elders who share common interests to help forge a connection. It is a true joy to watch friendships evolve. Some elders have higher needs, such as dementia and disabilities, which make connecting slightly different and often very rewarding for a willing volunteer. The volunteer can choose to visit an elder in an aged care home or in the elder’s own home. The Aged Care Volunteer Visitor Scheme (ACVVS) is funded by the federal government. Category Seniors & Aged Care Commitment Regular - less than 6 months Type Of Work Companionship & Social Support, Seniors & Aged Care Time Required Once a week or fortnightly one hour volunteer visits to provide friendship to an elder. Time will be decided between the elder and volunteer. Training Aged Care Volunteer Visitor training will be provided.
