Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) is dedicated to delivering top-quality healthcare to western Sydney. The Therapy for Kids & Families (TKF) team provides specialised mental health support for children under 12, addressing complex emotional and behavioural issues within family contexts.
- Deliver family-focused mental health interventions through evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
- Collaborate with children, families, and stakeholders, offering advocacy, education, and skills training.
- Work within a multidisciplinary team to ensure integrated, specialist care across services.
- Support clinical supervision and skill development for team members and students.
- Lead quality improvement, research, and partnerships to enhance mental health services.
What you'll be doing
The Senior Paediatric Mental Health Clinician role is a part of a multidisciplinary team, focused on supporting children and families facing complex mental health challenges through direct interventions, collaboration, and advocacy.
- Provide therapeutic and psychiatric interventions for children and families.
- Collaborate with families and key stakeholders to develop treatment plans.
- Support team members with clinical expertise and supervision.
- Lead quality improvement and clinical research initiatives.
- Foster partnerships with government and community services for integrated care.

Essential Requirements
Qualification: Accredited post-graduate Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology. Relevant tertiary qualification in Nursing, Social Work or Occupational Therapy.
Registration: Full registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency AHPRA and endorsement in the area of Clinical Psychology. Full registration with APHRA as a Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker- eligibility to be member of the AASW
Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated experience in working therapeutically with children and families who present with significant emotional, behavioural, and/or mental health difficulties.
- Demonstrated evidence-based skills in the assessment and treatment of children and their families presenting with complex mental health issues in a developmental framework.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in working with families who are at risk due to issues such as substance abuse, mental illness, child protection and domestic violence.
- Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) and ability to build therapeutic relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and with other service providers to achieve optimal outcomes for children and families.
- Current NSW driver license and willing to use for work purposes
