Assistant Principal - Singleton Heights Public School NSW Department of Education – Singleton NSW Built on the land of the Wonnarua people, Singleton Heights Public School draws students from families living in the Singleton Heights region in the beautiful Hunter Valley. There are strong links with the mining and rural industries as well as local services. A Defence School Mentor supports families connected to the Singleton Lone Pine Barracks. Over 470 students are enrolled, with approximately 25% of students recognising and celebrating their Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage. The school also has a multi‑categorical support class on site. All students strive for success with explicit teaching and learning practices visible in every classroom. Professional, dedicated and supportive teaching staff are committed to leading the students to thrive. Collaborative practices contribute to a positive learning environment, where educational research, reflective practices and professional dialogue are highly valued within the school, with the support of two APCIs. Technology is integral to teaching and learning experiences in well‑resourced classrooms. Singleton Heights Public School is situated in expansive grounds, allowing students to be physically active in a welcoming environment. The school offers a wide variety of extra‑curricular programs that are highly regarded within the community and are embraced by the students. There is a close working relationship with the Parents and Citizens Association, Aboriginal Education Consultative Group and the Singleton Learning Community group of public schools. Position Information Assistant Principal role responsible for leadership and management of the school, ensuring high quality teaching, learning and pastoral care, fostering a positive culture, and supporting staff and student wellbeing. Selection Criteria In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary, with a high level of capacity to engage students in rich, authentic, flexible, dynamic teaching and learning experiences, underpinned by high expectations, differentiation and evidence informed practices. Demonstrated strong commitment and capacity to build wellbeing initiative with the proven ability to foster growth and development of students and staff. Demonstrated capacity in leading strategic professional learning, supporting the evaluation of data to inform and improve student learning outcomes. Innovative and visible leader, able to inspire a positive culture of collaboration and consultation to strengthen partnerships with school stakeholders and the wider community. General Selection Criteria Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy. Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement.
