Position Objective The Military Compensation Advocate provides advice and assistance directly to veterans, their families and the wider military community in relation to a wide range of claims to the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA). The main objective is to support a veteran’s application to DVA for recognition of service‑related conditions and accessing compensation, medical and rehabilitation support. There may also be an opportunity to mentor a Level 1 Compensation Advocate. Responsibilities Preparing and submitting compensation claims in a timely manner Working within legislative and policy guidelines to document claims from Veterans Case coordination, managing and updating client files using record management systems, ensuring data quality and accuracy Conduct thorough research and analysis of current military compensation policies as well as under the relevant Acts Stay updated on relevant legislation, regulations, changes and trends affecting military compensation Provide sound communication including upholding privacy and confidentiality standards for all staff, and current as well as ex‑service community members requiring assistance and support Develop and maintain professional relationships with stakeholders such as other Ex‑Service Organisations (ESO), Case Coordinators, and Delegates within DVA, Allied Health Professionals and other support services Maintain accurate records, case notes and data related to military compensation issues Review the progress of claims lodged with the DVA on behalf of clients Prepare statistics as required for reporting Record data in CRM database Selection criteria Must hold current Advocacy Training and Development Program (ATDP) Compensation Advocate Level 2 (NAT ) qualification Strong understanding of military compensation policies, regulations, and benefits Ability to show empathy and work in highly sensitive environments and situations Proven ability to understand and interpret complex legislation and compile in‑depth research Excellent research, analytical, and problem‑solving skills Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders Experience with Microsoft technologies, particularly Office 365 Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment as well as collaboratively in a team environment Queensland “C” class driver’s license The Veterans' Support Centre is closed from 19 December to 4 January 2026.
