Cleaner – Permanent Part‑time This is a permanent part‑time position commencing as soon as possible . South Thornlie Primary School (PS) was first opened in 1976 and has since grown into a vibrant and diverse school with strong community links. South Thornlie PS became an Independent Public School in Term 3 2020. We currently have a campus of five teaching blocks accommodating Kindy, Pre‑Primary, Junior, Middle and Senior classes. Our grounds are well maintained with three large play areas including playgrounds and a sporting oval. There are two enclosed assembly areas, a STEAM room, science and music rooms, a library and a computer lab. Our school runs a local dental health program and has a dental clinic and OSH club located within the school grounds. Responsibilities As a cleaner you will be responsible for internal cleaning duties, including the maintenance of carpets and hard floor surfaces, toilet cleaning, furniture and fittings, window cleaning, dusting, rubbish removal, and other items of general cleaning. You will also carry out external cleaning duties, including the cleaning of verandas and covered areas, rubbish removal, cleaning of drinking troughs, window cleaning, removal of cobwebs and other general cleaning duties. During vacation times you will undertake the stripping and sealing of vinyl floors, window cleaning, shampooing of carpets, and pressure cleaning of verandas and undercover areas. In this role you should have good attention to detail, be able to work well both individually and as part of a team to ensure a clean and safe school environment, be organised, reliable, punctual and have excellent knowledge of cleaning equipment and safe cleaning procedures, methods and practices. Eligibility Obtain a valid Working With Children Check. Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start. Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
