Senior Security Administrator - (Vulnerability Specialist) Brisbane CBD | HybridGovernment DepartmentContract until 30 June 2026 (possible extension) About the Role As the Systems Administrator (Vulnerability Specialist), you will play a hands‑on role in identifying, remediating and preventing vulnerabilities across servers, applications, mobile devices and IoT environments. You will support the planning, testing, implementation and automated rollout of patches and configuration changes in line with Essential 8 frameworks and enterprise cyber requirements. This opportunity suits a technical specialist who enjoys solving complex problems, streamlining deployment workflows and improving the overall cyber posture of a large and mission‑critical environment. Key Responsibilities Remediate IT security vulnerabilities through patching, configuration changes and system upgrades Perform full lifecycle remediation including planning, change control, testing and live deployment Develop automated patching strategies aligned with ACSC Essential 8 Implement automated patching systems for operating systems and applications across servers, workstations and IoT devices Apply group policy, Intune policy and scripting solutions to resolve configuration vulnerabilities Support consistent, secure and compliant remediation across a diverse enterprise environment Key Deliverables Enterprise-wide patching and remediation implemented efficiently and consistently Automated patch deployment processes developed and embedded Major vulnerability items addressed within required timeframes Improved system compliance and alignment with Essential 8 priorities Secure configuration baselines established across server, desktop, mobile and IoT platforms Selection Criteria Demonstrated experience remediating vulnerabilities across multiple platforms Strong technical understanding of enterprise infrastructure and cyber remediation approaches Experience planning and executing patching at scale in large environments Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities with the ability to work under pressure Experience managing multiple priorities and deadlines in operational environments Qualifications and Experience Highly Regarded Minimum 5 years in IT operations, system administration or technical engineering roles Experience deploying and supporting technologies such as Windows Server, Active Directory, SQL clusters, Commvault, VMware, Group Policy, mobile device fleets and IoT systems Experience managing Intune, Azure Update Manager and monitoring systems Familiarity with Linux environments Understanding of ITIL or similar IT service management frameworks Experience working in large enterprise or government environments managing vulnerability remediation at scale How to Apply Submit your CV.
