Quality Assurance Advisor Why Austal Austal is Australia’s global shipbuilder, Defence prime contractor and maritime technology partner of choice, designing, constructing, and supporting defence and commercial vessels for the world’s leading operators. As Australia’s Strategic Shipbuilder, Austal will start by delivering eighteen Landing Craft Medium and eight Landing Craft Heavy vessels for the Australian Army. The SSA will drive significant growth across our industry and workforce, as we deliver existing and future programs under a long‑term partnership. About the Opportunity As a Quality Assurance Advisor for Austal Defence Australia (ADA), you will conduct Quality Assurance activities and where necessary report, investigate and resolve identified non‑conformance. The role primarily supports the effective delivery of the ADA Quality Management System requirements and supports the Project Delivery Quality Assurance teams in delivering projects. This is your opportunity to contribute to projects of national significance. What’s Involved Ensuring ongoing Quality Assurance activities are conducted to a high standard in line with business requirements and are reported in a timely manner. Conduct audits and inspections in accordance with the ADA Audit procedure and schedule. Conduct root‑cause analysis of quality issues and recommend and implement corrective actions to address quality issues. Validate and verify Quality Assurance activities identified in Project Delivery Plans. Work together with stakeholders to implement Austal’s Quality Assurance system requirements. Conduct Quality Assurance review of business process documentation prior to its release. Undertake analysis of Quality Assurance compliance data. Develop and issue Quality Assurance documentation to a high standard. Build and maintain productive professional relationships with the teams delivering quality products or services to clients. Maintain and continually improve business best practice for Quality Assurance. Implement integrated and cost‑effective team solutions for quality non‑conformance issues, including where required leading corrective and preventative action management. You Will Need Essential An auditing qualification (Lead Auditor preferable). Demonstrated experience of monitoring and progressing inspection test plans. Proficient IT literacy, including MS Office Suite (SharePoint & Excel etc.). Solutions‑orientated, results‑ and goals‑driven, with excellent attention to detail. Strategic, analytical and innovative with solid problem‑solving skills. Ability to quickly understand business processes across the business. A passion for improving quality across the business. Desirable A diploma or equivalent certification in Quality Assurance, Lean Management, Engineering or Project Management. Previous or related experience working within a project‑focused manufacturing environment with a strong desire to work in Quality Assurance. Demonstrated knowledge of ISO 9001 and experience working within Quality Management Systems as they apply to shipbuilding, defence, oil & gas and/or manufacturing.
