TSH (formerly Telethon Speech & Hearing) provides integrated services for children with hearing loss and/or speech and language difficulties from newborns to 18-year-olds. A team of education professionals work collaboratively alongside allied health professionals to empower children to hear, communicate, connect and learn. Teach small classes of children with additional needs, ensuring differentiation, internal and external collaboration and a focus on evidence informed practice. We are currently seeking a nurturing and inclusive Teacher with a strong interest in early literacy and language support to work in our Talkabout 5 year old Pre-Primary program. Our Talkabout Program is a specialised early intervention program for children with language difficulties that provides a language-rich environment and approach to supporting children and their families. This is a unique teaching role working with small classes, leading a multi-disciplinary team of professionals including speech pathologists, occupational therapists and education assistants. This part time fixed term role (12 months with possible extension) works in our Wembley Centre on Thursdays and Fridays, with a half day DOTT allocation on Wednesdays. The successful candidates will be experienced and/or qualified Early Childhood Teacher with highly developed literacy and language knowledge and skills (with Sounds Write and/or Talk for Writing training preferred). Extensive knowledge of childhood social and emotional development is required as well as the ability to create an inclusive and nurturing environment that recognises every person’s unique talent and fosters positive outcomes. The successful candidate will also have a history of building strong relationships with families, practice positive behaviour support principles and be comfortable collaboratively leading a classroom of allied health and education professionals.
