The Role We are seeking a Workshop Manager to join our management team in Cairns. This position is responsible for day-to-day management of our Workshop, the coordination of resources and liaising with stakeholders to ensure work is delivered on time and to a quality standard. Key Responsibilities Manage job allocation and job flow process including scheduling and labour allocation in servicing, repair and maintenance of vehicles and plant machinery Manage and oversee staff productivity and output to ensure daily, weekly and monthly tasks are completed effectively and on time Order and track parts and consumables whilst maintaining cost effective job costing Identify and implement improvements in processes, procedures or systems Mentoring and training apprentices/tradespersons to raise the bar of work performed Conduct Daily Prestart, undertake HSEQ Inspections, and deliver Toolbox Talks. Quality control of services and repairs across the workshop Ensure all documentation for workshop activities is recorded and stored effectively Deliver on all safety requirements as per industry standards. Requirements 5+ years’ experience as a Diesel Fitter 3+ years’ experience in a Leading Hand or management position Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent Proficient in management of servicing and repairs Strong leadership capability Willing to visit remote construction sites to complete jobs when required. Sound knowledge of a variety of different earthmoving machinery Great work ethic and ability to positively influence work culture. Ability to implement SWMS and champion the utilisation of correct PPE.
