Teacher Aide

As a Teacher Aide, you will support learning and wellbeing by working alongside teachers in classrooms and providing individual and small-group assistance, including for students with diverse needs. You help students engage with learning materials, reinforce literacy and numeracy skills, and assist during excursions and school activities. The role may also involve supporting personal care and health needs under supervision. We’re looking for someone with strong communication skills, empathy, and a collaborative approach. This position is being offered in a Temporary Part-Time capacity (0.79FTE), 60 hours per fortnight. About The Role As a Teacher Aide at Centenary State High School, you will play a vital role in supporting student learning and wellbeing. Working closely with teachers, you will assist in classrooms, provide individual and small-group support, and help students engage with learning materials. This role also involves contributing to school activities, fostering inclusion, and supporting students with diverse needs. Key Responsibilities Include Engaging and supporting students in classrooms and small groups, particularly in literacy and numeracy. Assisting teachers with preparing and organising learning materials and resources. Supervising and supporting students during excursions, sporting events, and other activities. Providing respectful and empathetic assistance to students with diverse needs, including personal care under supervision. Collaborating with teachers and staff to create a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment. This role would suit someone who is passionate about education, enjoys working with young people, and thrives in a collaborative school environment. About You The following traits would be beneficial: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students and staff. Empathy and respect for students with diverse needs, including those requiring additional care. Ability to assist with literacy and numeracy support, including working with small groups or individual students. Organisational skills to assist with preparing and managing learning materials and resources. Flexibility and a collaborative approach to contribute to various school activities and initiatives. Please note: It is a mandatory requirement of this position that you possess a current Working with Children Check clearance (blue card) issued by Blue Card Services.
