Fleet Controller

This well-known transport company is looking for a Key role supporting daily service delivery to join its Operations Team near the Adelaide Port precinct. Responsibilities Plan, allocate, monitor and juggle booked jobs for a number of drivers transporting full and empty containers, delivery and lodgment to and from the wharf and customers. Schedule driver workloads to maximise vehicle efficiency and cost effectiveness while adapting to events throughout the day. Monitor jobs to ensure AQIS and Customs requirements are met. Liaise with the Customer Services staff who are taking bookings and managing customer expectations. Ensure job details are provided to drivers in a clear, concise and timely manner. Data entry into various software programs, including systems used internally and those of the Container Terminal and various container parks. Provide relief duties for Operations team members as needed and general assistance to Managers. Liaise with the workshop to schedule repairs and maintenance on plant and equipment. Qualifications Experience in Fleet Control within the Transport and Logistics Industry, preferably with similar/equivalent role within wharf cartage. Capacity to think outside the square with effective cost control and vehicle/driver utilisation. Excellent people skills with the ability to direct, communicate and support people to get the task completed. Customer focused to maintain required service levels and meet the customer’s needs. Working knowledge of Chain of Responsibility (Fatigue, Speed, Mass, Load Restraint) and ideally an understanding of Dangerous Goods and other road transport principles.
