Overview Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) is recruiting Staff Specialists (SS) and Visiting Medical Officers (VMO) in Emergency Medicine and General Medicine for Leeton, Deniliquin and Young Hospitals. Flexible appointments ranging from single days to block weeks are available. Roles and Responsibilities GP Emergency Medicine (SS/VMO) Provide admitting, consultative, diagnostic, procedural, outpatient, telehealth and on‑call services as required. Attend rostered hours and on‑call duties, including clinical handovers, supervision, teaching and routine/emergency care. Offer education and support to clinicians across multiple disciplines, promoting quality education and safe clinical practice. Physician (General Medicine) (SS/VMO) Provide specialist inpatient care, ward rounds, outpatient support and ED collaboration. Manage acute and chronic presentations, oncology/infusion clinic and Hospital in the Home services. Work closely with GP VMOs to ensure seamless transfers and safe patient care. Remuneration – Choose the Path That Suits You Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) GP rate + practice rate: up to $247.30/hour , equating to $474,816 + super (based on 40 hrs/week for 48 weeks). Specialist rate + practice rate: up to $275.85/hour , equating to $529,632 + super (based on 40 hrs/week for 48 weeks). Senior Specialist VMO rates: up to $293.75/hour , equating to $564,000 + super (based on 40 hrs/week for 48 weeks). Staff Specialist Competitive base salary of up to $299,825 + super, with additional allowances and benefits. Entitlements of permanent employment, including superannuation, leave, relocation support and more. Selection Criteria Holds an MBBS or equivalent, with current registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist in General Practice, Emergency Medicine or Rural & Remote Medicine, or General Registration with a minimum of seven years’ experience as a senior medical officer in a regional or rural NSW emergency medicine department. Compliance with Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements as a GP. Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary clinical management and modern approaches to a broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions. Competence in performing urgent minor procedures commonly undertaken in rural emergency departments, including Advanced Life Support and Trauma management. Proven ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, with the capability to provide leadership and guidance to team members. Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement initiatives. Availability and willingness to participate in an on‑call roster and to respond on‑site within a reasonable timeframe.
